NEW DISCOVERY
In May-June 1849, Jenny Lind stayed nearby the Etoile. Chopin moved temporarily to 74, Rue de Chaillot late May or early June 1849, only some 400 m from her place.Research in 2003 shows that Jenny Lind, the Swedish soprano and philanthropist  travelled in May 1849, shortly after her opera farewell in London and with the knowledge of Queen Victoria, incognito to Paris in an unsuccessful attempt to marry the ailing Chopin.

Act 5, Death, Nightingale Opus 24: Ljiljana Jovanovic singing and playing an aria by Bellini as Delfina Potocka did for Chopin shortly before 17 October 1849 (the Swedish Embassy, Warsaw, 6 April 2004).This hitherto unknown historical information was reviewed with Chopin experts at a roundtable and press conference convened by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute on 1 March 2004 at the Warsaw Philharmonic.  The new discovery was celebrated at the premiere of the musical drama "Nightingale Opus 24" at the Swedish Embassy in Warsaw on 6 April 2004 with an international audience.  The findings were also reveiwed with musicologists in Edinburgh on 11 January 2005.

While Chopin's letters show he liked and admired Jenny Lind, he did not confine to paper any willingness to marry her.
