 Isaac Albéniz
(1860-1909), born in Camprodón and a child prodigy at four. He studied under Liszt,
and became a brilliant pianist and composer of picturesque works for piano based on
Spanish folk music, notably the Iberia suite. He travelled widely. |
 Enrique Granados
(1867-1916), composer and pianist, born in Lérida. Following studies in Paris, he
played often with Jacques Thibaud and Pablo Casals. Inspired by a painting by Goya, his
piano suite Goyescas (1911) became a huge success. |
 Manuel de Falla
(1876-1946), born in Cadiz, was much influenced by Spanish musical traditions. Lived
in Paris 1907-1914, where he published his first piano compositions. Fame
established in London with his ballet El sombrero de tres picos. |
